My story

Renata was born and raised in Sao Paulo, Brazil. In 1993 she earned a Business Management degree from Fundacao Getulio Vargas(FGV). She worked in the marketing field for several years as a product manager for the publishing industry. Pursuing ceramics as a hobby since her teen years, in 2000 Renata took a leap of faith for a career change coming to the US for a two year apprenticeship at the Rochester Folk Art Guild in NY under the guidance of Annie Schliffer. While at the guild,Renata met her husband Erik and, in 2003 they moved to Annapolis, MD. Renata worked as a production potter for the Annapolis Pottery for two years before taking a position at the Chesapeake Arts Center  as a technician for their ceramics department. In 2004 Renata opened her studio in Edgewater, Maryland. She has also been teaching ceramics  at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts since 2005. Renata sells her work at craft shows and galleries in Brazil and the US.
